Studies show
that anesthesiologists are more likely than any other doctor to
become addicted to the very drugs they prescribe.
Access to the
drug fentanyl, a painkiller that is 100 times more potent than
morphine, is easy and virtually untraceable. While in the
operating room, the anesthesiologist can be siphoning off the
drugs you need for himself and possibly even shooting up during
the operation. The addiction to this drug, is not always
intentional. Fentanyl has been shown to be present in the air,
after being administered to the patient, through the ventilation
system. This highly potent drug is easily absorbed through the
skin dosing the anesthesiologist without his knowledge.
